The only thing constant is change. At Mahoney Associates we know that the seasons, the weather, the wind and salt, and even the growth of certain trees (creating shade where once there was sun) are all conditions that need to be monitored and considered when planning. We bring a level of care and commitment to every property that enables us to think proactively and keep your landscape healthy and thriving.
Mahoney Associates offers a series of nutritional programs for lawns. We only use the safest, most current and effective lawn care products available. We’re experts in what it takes to sustain a healthy soil and turf system. Over the years we’ve honed an approach and management practices that yield beautiful results. When you entrust us with your property you can expect cutting-edge mowing, pest, weeds and fungus treatment and environmentally sensible programs that keep your home or your business looking pristine.
Spring and fall cleanups are two key elements in maintaining the beauty and health of your landscape. In spring we focus on removal of branches, twigs, privet leaves and any other remaining leaves that the winter has left behind. We create new clean edges for each garden bed, and of course, take stock of any issues that salt, wind and snow may have created and address them.
In fall, our cleanup focuses on cutting back all necessary perennials and flowers at the end of the season, along with the removal of all leaves and debris on the property resulting in a healthy and clean landscape.
At Mahoney Associates, our pest and disease programs use current, comprehensive information on the life cycles of pests and their interaction with the environment. Our Integrated Pest Management *(IPM) begins with maintaining plant health (pruning and soil amendment). Periodic inspection is important in order to detect any infestations prior to significant damage. We’ve mastered the use of natural parasites, pathogens and predators of pests. Many of these beneficial organisms exist naturally in the landscape and can be promoted by increasing diversity in your landscape. Of course, certain pests and diseases will require treatment, for which we use a broad array of natural, organic, and synthetic products. At Mahoney, we take an environmentally friendly approach – we manage pest damage and disease with the least possible hazard to people, property and environment and the most efficiency possible.
At Mahoney, our approach to PCH (plant care health) is holistic. We’re dedicated to maintaining your trees, shrubs, plants, and your investment. We’re thoughtful about the selection and placement of new plant materials as well as the climate on the East End. We’re conversant in the most current planting techniques, mulching, soil improvement, irrigation and pruning. Our responsibility is to promote health, mitigate failure and improve the overall quality and aesthetic of your property.
Trees are exquisite anchors in the landscape and maintaining them properly is critical to the overall health of your property. At Mahoney Associates, our tree care experts understand that proper pruning is essential to tree health. We remove parts of the tree that are no longer useful (and may be draining resources). In this way, pruning refocuses energy, giving new life to the tree. We improve the overall functionality of the tree, and of course, we improve the aesthetic, shaping the tree (or plant), controlling or redirecting growth, and enhancing its look. Removing dead or damaged branches also decreases the chance of disease entering through dead wood and spreading throughout the tree. We also understand that appropriate pruning allows for light, air and circulation in dense trees. Additionally lower limbs are often pruned to give garden beds more room.
Here on the East End, caring for hedges is also very important. Trimming and perfecting the heights and widths of hedges adds drama. And of course, maintaining privacy is paramount.
