Donald E. Mahoney, Jr.
Founder of both Mahoney Associates and East End Snow & Ice Management, Don’s professional expertise and customer-driven focus have helped build these sister companies into the South Fork’s premier year-round exterior maintenance provider.
Before founding Mahoney Associates in 1999, Don spent a decade working in high-end residential landscape installations and sales on Long Island while completing his education. A professional landscape contractor with an educational background in both landscape development and organizational management, Don is a New York State Certified Nursery and Landscape Professional, a New York State Certified Commercial Pesticide Applicator a Certified Snow Professional and Advanced Snow Manager with the National Snow & Ice Management Association. His unique blend of hands-on skill and entrepreneurial expertise are instrumental as he leads the growing businesses.
Don is a member of multiple professional organizations, including the Professional Landcare Network, Nassau Suffolk Landscape Gardeners Association, The New York State Landscape and Grounds Association, Professional Certified Applicators of LI and the Snow & Ice Management Association. Don is also an active member of several local business associations, including, The Southampton Chamber of Commerce and Business Alliance of Southampton. A lifelong resident of the East End community, Don serves as a volunteer and treasurer of the Southampton Village Volunteer Ambulance Corp. He is also a founding business sponsor of the Southampton Youth Services.
Don earned an associate degree in landscape development from the State University of New York at Cobleskill and a certificate in turfgrass management from Cornell University. He also studied organizational management at St. Josephs College.
Suzanne R. Wilutis
Chief Financial Officer & Business Manager
Joining Mahoney Associates, Inc. in 2021, Suzanne is a proven growth-oriented leader with over 25 years of business management and managerial accounting experience. Strategic financial and data analytics, accounting oversight, organizational structure and operations management are Suzanne’s key areas of focus at Mahoney Associates.
Suzanne is a graduate of Loyola University, Maryland, where she earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Accounting. Suzanne began her career in public accounting with Arthur Andersen, LLP and Morgan Stanley, before moving to the East End and focusing her career in private sector business management, managerial accounting and consulting. Suzanne’s industry experience includes health care, manufacturing and real estate development.
Jessica joined Mahoney Associates in 2018 and currently leads our accounting department. During her tenure, she has held positions as administrative assistant, contract administrator and bookkeeper, while also taking the lead in the facilitation of the conversion and implementation of our industry specific ERP software. She is presently responsible for all aspects of billing and accounts payable and assists with managerial accounting, job costing, budgeting and financial reporting. Jessica is a graduate of John Jay College in Manhattan.
Fleet Director & Snow Operations Manager
Jay has been an integral part of the Mahoney Associates team since 2011. Jay’s knowledge and expertise in mechanics runs deep and attention to detail is in his blood. He worked as a high-end machinist, building race car engines prior to joining Mahoney Associates. His proactive approach to managing the landscape and snow fleet with a focus on preventative maintenance has worked to keep break downs and other equipment malfunctions to a minimum. Jay’s motto is “give the crews the best and highest performing equipment so they don’t have to struggle in the field”. Jay is also an excellent leader in the field based on his many years of experience in site work and excavation, from capping environmentally regulated landfills to sitework and drainage projects. Jay has an innate ability to assess a site and determine the necessary processes and requirements and a proven track record of success.

Director of Operations
Nicholas joined Mahoney Associates, Inc. in August of 2019 and brings with him 15 years of experience in business management and development. He has exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with an in depth understanding of project objectives and the importance of maintaining budgetary and timeline goals.
Nicholas is a graduate of Stony Brook University with a B.A. in History. In combination with his education, he uses his extensive work experience to communicate successfully with his fellow management team, other employees, vendors and clients. With his in-depth thinking and strategic planning skills he effectively manages resource allocation, scheduling and assists in production efficiency.
A graduate of SUNY Cobleskill with a degree in Applied Science and Turf Management, Michael has over 25 years of field experience. A key member of the Mahoney Associates management team since 2008, Michael manages all areas of landscape production. He holds a Certified Pesticide Applicator License, is an Alumni of LDP, and is certified by Suffolk County Executive Office of Consumer Affairs for for organic applications.
Michael is a member of the American Society of Landscape Architects, Nassau Suffolk Landscape Gardeners Association and the New York State Turfgrass Association. He takes pride in the long-standing relationships he has with each client and their landscape.
Bennett joined Mahoney Associates, Inc. in 2019 and quickly advanced his career from field crew applicator to Production Supervisor. Bennett manages all aspects of turf and ornamental maintenance utilizing custom designed organic programs. Bennett holds a Bachelors Degree in Turf and Plant Science from SUNY Cobleskill and is a Certified Pesticide Applicator.
A native of Romania, Florin received his B.S. in Horticulture Operations and Management from Ion Ionescu de la Brad University of Agriculture Sciences and Veterinary Medicine in Iași, Romania. After emigrating from Romania to the United States, Florin utilized his education to manage greenhouses for approximately 14 years. He oversaw the planting, watering, fertilization and all other aspects of maintaining the plant material while managing labor crews and developing policies and increasing efficiencies.
Florin joined the Mahoney Associates, Inc. team in 2022 as our Horticulture Supervisor. Using his education and experience, he works closely with our Garden Maintenance crews to increase their knowledge and abilities to elevate the existing high level of quality that our clients have come to expect from Mahoney Associates, Inc.
